Description

Greatrakes was renowned for curing the sick by stroking them with his hands. He is shown stroking the left eye and head of a sick boy. In the right background, a country road with a man and woman strolling, a man using crutches, and a man holding crutches not in use (cured of lameness?)

Valentine Greatrakes Esq of Affane in ye county of Waterford in ye kingdome of Ireland Bears label on verso naming the subject as "Arthur [sic] Greatrakes" with further text derived from the lettering on Faithorne's engraving
