About this work

Description

Roman emperor Trajan (reigned CE 100-117) dressed as a pharaoh, offering to Hathor who is feeding her son Ihy. Behind them is another figure of Ihy as a young child wearing the side-lock of youth and with a finger in his mouth. This wall relief is from the birth house built during the roman Period (30 BCE-CE 395) at the temple complex of Dendara in Northern Upper Egypt. Photograph taken in 1989.
