And in the 2d chap, of the Galatians, he fays, then four¬ teen years after 1 went up again to Jerufalem with Barnabas, and took Titus along with me alfo. From whence it is manifeft, that this journey to Jerufa¬ lem could not be till upwards offeventeen years after the converfion of St. Paul. St. Pad is allowed on all hands, to have been con¬ verted in the year of our Lord 35, that is, about two years after the death of our Saviohr; to which if you add upwards of three years, which St. Paul fpent before he went to Jerufalem, where he went, fays bifhop Pearfon,towards the latter end of the year, this will bring us to the latter end of the year 38 ; to which if you add 14 years more, which he reck¬ ons before the time of this tranfadlion, this will car¬ ry us on to the beginning of the year 53. Having thus fixed the period of time, in which St. Paul went up to Jerufalem, as mentioned in the fecond chap, of the Galatians, let us now fee, if we can alfo fix the time of the tranfaftion mentioned in the 15th chap, of the Ads. And this we fhall be be ft able to perform, by looking a little into the life of St. Paul; and enquiring into fomeofthe remark¬ able tranfa&ions of his life ; which may furnilh us with feme certain aera, whereby we fiiall be able to determine this affair. Jn the lyth chap, of theActs, it is faid, that Paul and Barnabas returned from Jerufalem to Antioch4 and that upon a contention, which happened be¬ tween them about Mark, they departed afunder one from the other: And jo Barnabas took Mark, and faded unto Cyprus ; And Paul chofe Silas, and departed\ and went through Syria, and Cilicia.
