The Returns from Guernsey have not yet been received. It has already been stated, that the Population Act of 1830 institutes an enquiry into the various occupations of the present generation; but this, be it remembered, is purely additional to the enquiries made under the Population Acts of 1810 and 1820, so that the power of comparison remains inviolate. How far a minute analysis of social life in Great Britain in the Year 1831, may be useful to statistical enquirers, experience only can demonstrate; the technical difficulty of precise distinction between Manufacture and the CITY OF YORK (SCHEDULE RETURN).
