The temple, built between 25 BC and 20 BC, is the location of the Monumentum Ancyranum, the inscription recording the achievements of the Roman emperor Augustus (Res gestae divi Augusti)

"Lemaitre direxit": presumably referring to Anne Clara Clément, née Lemaître, whose forename is mentined in another print by her for Texier. According to E. Bénézit, Dictionnaire des peintes, Paris 1999, s.v. Clément, she exhibited under her married name (Clément) from 1855. Her engraving for the present plate may have been made for Ch. Texier, Description de l'Asie mineure ... beaux-arts, monuments historiques, plans et topographie des cités antiques, par Charles Texier ... gravure de Lemaître..., Paris: Firmin-Didot frères, 1839-1849
