Description
Collection of cookery, household and medical receipts in various hands. Authorities include Sir Richard Jebb (1729-1787), ff. 60v., 92r., 100r; Sir Henry Halford (1766-1844), f. 92r; `Dr Blake', f. 29v; `Dr Radcliffe', f. 32r; `Dr Warren', ff. 57v.-58r., 61r., 103v; `Dr Vaughan', f. 61r; `Dr Barclay', f. 89r; `Dr Hollingbeck', f. 91v; and `Dr McWhirter', ff. 104v., 107r. Several of the lay authorities are identified as from Edinburgh (e.g. ff. 31v., 90r.). A number of the later recipes are in French. There are some pressed flowers between ff. 107 and 109. A contemporary pencil sketch of a boy teasing a horse and military rider is loosely inserted at the front of the volume.
