    Billeting of Troops. During the latter part of the year about 1,300 Troops were billeted in the Borough. The Divisional Sanitary Officer gave instruc¬ tions that no Troops were to be accommodated in houses where there were pail-closets or privies, and the air space for each soldier to be not less than 300 cubic feet. (These arrangements were carried out under my supervision). The health of the Troops was good, only one case of Infectious Disease being notified, viz. :—A case of suspected Enteric Fever. This case was immediately removed to the Isolation Hospital and kept under observation for a fortnight, the notification then being withdrawn. A case of Scarlet Fever was notified at the Caretakers of the * Drill Hall and removed to the Isolation Hospital to prevent the spreading of infection among the soldiers. Several cases of Scarlet Fever were notified from houses where Troops were billeted, the soldiers being at once removed to other premises and kept under observation, no case of Scarlet Fever being notified among them. Factory and Workshops Act. 1 he total number of Inspections of Factories and Workshops was 345, namely, 22 factories, 323 workshops. 10 nuisances were found existing, namely :—insufficient closet accommodation 1 ; no separate ac¬ commodation for the sexes 7. On notice being sent these defects were remedied with one exception. Appended is the Sanitary Inspector’s Report and Report of Schools to the Foughborough Education Committee on Schools in the Borough, also tabulated statistics as to population, births and mortality for the last five years, also of infectious diseases notified and ages ; also of deaths of infants under one year, classified according to diseases and ages. Copies of this Report, when printed, will be sent to the Focal Government Board, the Home Office, and the Feicestershire County Council.
