    of union, of a sum not exceeding £7,600. And when it is considered that accommodation will have been provided immediately and fully for upwards of 210 Patients, and that all the Water Supply, Laundry, and Kitchen and Staff accommodation will suffice without further outlay in these departments for another 210 Patients at a future time, the Committee feel confident that the total outlay, including the £7,600 now asked for, will not be found to be extravagant. In summing up this Report the Committee beg to impress on the Court and Council the unquestionable fact that the total expenditure which they have incurred has been unavoidable, and the actual financial position would have been in no way different if they had at Michaelmas, 1884, been in a position to present to the Court and Council the actual state of the accounts, and the sum of about £7,600 asked for now, being £5,000 in excess of the estimate of 1882, would have been applied for then, in the proportion of about £5,000 for extra work on the original contract and necessary additional Buildings, and £2,500 for furniture and clothing.
