    DOCTORS’ LETTERS. Patients, other than casualties and cases of emergency, who are insured under the National Health Insurance Act or are members of the Contributory Schemes, are not seen unless they bring a letter from their General Medical Practitioner. It is advisable for ALL patients coming to the Hospital to bring such letters. ACCIDENTS AND EMERGENCIES. Accidents and emergencies are received at any time. Practitioners are asked when possible kindly to telephone the Resident Surgical Officer or House Physician to ascertain whether a bed be vacant. PRIVATE PATIENTS’ DEPARTMENT. There is a well-equipped Private Patients’ Department containing twelve beds in single rooms of adequate size. Patients may be admitted under any member of the Honorary Staff of the Hospital, and fees are arranged between the patient and the physician, surgeon, or specialist in charge of the case. The Hospital’s maintenance charges are as follows : Maternity cases £6 6s. Od. per week, Other cases £5 5s. Od. per week. Visitors are allowed at any reasonable time. PATIENTS’ VISITORS. Visitors are allowed in the general wards, except the children’s wards, to see their friends on : Sundays | Wednesdays From 3 to 4 p.m. Saturdays I Two visitors only are permitted to each patient at one time. Patients on the danger list may be visited at any time. Visitors are strictly forbidden to bring food or liquor into the Hospital without permission of the ward sister. RESIDENT MEDICAL OFFICERS. There are four house officers : one resident surgical officer, one house physician and two assistant house surgeons and casualty officers.
