A later state in the British Museum bears lettering 'F. Viera pinxt. The landscape engraved by B. Comte. The figures by F. Bartolozzi Esqr. R.A. London, Published Mary 16th. 1814, by A. Molteno, 29, Pall Mall. Printed by B. McQueen"
The prominent Portuguese painter Francisco Vieira moved to London in 1797 and learned to engrave in Bartolozzi's studio. He returned to Oporto in 1801, and in 1802 Bartolozzi moved from London to Lisbon (Alexander, op. cit.). Therefore this print may have been produced much earlier than 1814, the date on the BM impression
