About this work

Description

WHO grade: corneal opacity (CO) This is the upper tarsal conjunctiva of a patient with corneal opacification. Note that all the lashes appear to have been removed. There is also fibrovascularisation of the cornea. Fibrovascularisation of the cornea is probably due to corneal ulceration produced by secondary infection of a traumatised cornea, where trauma was produced by trachomatous trichiasis (TT). This is a classic scenario. Note: WHO = World Health Organization.
