About this work

Description

The fifth part in a series looking at the work of faith healers. This part features John of God, probably the most famous healer in the world who 3000 British people travel to Brazil to see each year. He claims he can work miracles and it is thought that around 85% of people who visit him are cured. We follow the very moving story of Chrissie, who has terminal breast cancer, on her trip to visit John of God. Along the way we hear from others there as to what has brought them to see a faith healer, including an ex-surgeon suffering from multiple sclerosis who asks some very pertinent questions about the whole process of this kind of faith healing. Tragically for Chrissie, the 'entity' which works through John of God is unable to help her and she dies 10 days after returning to England.
