Description

The father is holding the Moniteur, a newspaper, possibly represening the Moniteur universel, the government newspaper. "Train de plaisir": an excursion train, laid on for a spectacle or a pleasure resort, and a favourite subject for caricatures by Daumier, but here applied metaphorically
