About this work
Description
Another print in the same series, showing a boy on horseback (Wellcome Library catalogue no. 679730i), has a column on the left divided from the rest of the sheet by a dotted line, with text containing a "Notice to teacher" (absent from the catalogued copy of the present print). The "Notice to teacher" text on the horseriding print explains that the boy represents Hungarian children: the present print of the cycling girl may also represent a non-American (Netherlandish?) example of children who take exercise and consume plenty of dairy products
