Leprosy: type 1 leprosy reaction

Borderline tuberculoid (BT) leprosy: type 1 leprosy reaction This is a medium power view of a deep dermal nerve in type 1 reaction. There is an area of nerve necrosis (right side), with adjacent granulomatous inflammation. The area of inflammation consists of epithelioid cells, giant cells and lymphocytes. H&E stain.
