This practice still meets with unreasonable opposition from the ob- stinacy of prejudiced men, who have not only employed every plau- ;sible argument, but have been guilty of disingenuousness and mis- representaton, in order to discountenance and suppress it. But it must be mentioned to the honour of the physicians of this country, that very early the moit rapectcd part of them became its warm friends, and that (contrary to a well-known prediction) they bad •virtue enough to dtstroy lucb a considerable part of tbeir revenue for the good of mankind.
