About this work

Description

Combining pre-natal footage with ground-breaking CGI, this documentary shows what happens when twins in the womb need surgery. Sarah's unborn babies have twin to twin transfusion syndrome, a condition in which one of the twins is bleeding into the other. She needs emergency laser surgery and travels to Kings College Hospital in London, where expert Professor Nikoliades performs the procedure. The procedure is shown in depth. Natalie also has twin to twin transfusion syndrome but of a more severe nature - she undergoes the same procedure as Sarah except it is far more risky because the procedure is taking place when her twins are only 15 weeks old. As is expected, Sarah's pregnancy goes much more smoothly than Natalie's - both of Sarah's babies survived but one of Natalie's died.
