About this work

Description

Herbal medicine. Apium graveolens (Wild celery). Straggly umbellifer with loose white flower heads. Grows in wet places, usually along tidal rivers. Very pungent and in its wild form does not appear to have been much used except in '5-root syrup' (asparagus, butcher's broom, celery, parsley, fennel), a diuretic.
