About this work

Description

Letters from Darwin to Galton regarding the proposed experimental farm for breeding.

Darwin advises Galton that he disagrees with the plan to separate animal and botanical experiments, and discusses the financial details of the Down estate, the possibility of renting land at Cambridge, possible names for the committee [Darwin suggests the Committee for Continuous Study of Evolution, i.e. Evolutionary Committee], disagreements over the focus of the farm, and the advantages of having the Royal Society as trustee rather than Cambridge University or the Philosophical Society.

Attached to the letters is a draft letter from Francis Galton to Darwin, concerning the disagreements over the experimental focus of the farm, and regarding future meetings of the Committee.
