1907 Born in Coonoor, India
Educated in Australia
1931 graduated MS BS from Melbourne University
House appointments at Christchurch Hospital New Zealand
1933 came to London, appointed house physician, Brompton Hospital, and house officer, National Heart Hospital
1935 assistant to professor of medicine, Hammersmith Hospital
1937 appointed as consultant physician at Hammersmith Hospital, British Postgraduate Medical School
1940 worked in Emergency Medical Service on "effort syndrome"
1942 joined the RAMC and rose to Brigadier, consulting physician to Central Mediterranean Force
1945 returned to the British Postgraduate Medical School
1948 moved to the Brompton Hospital, where he performed his first cardiac catheterisation
1949 invited to start the Postgraduate Institute of Cardiology, affiliated with the National Heart Hospital
1950 first edition of Diseases of the heart and circulation
1961 involved in founding the British Heart Foundation
1962 13 Jul died of coronary thrombosis.
