About this work

Description

On the recto, the carpus of the hand seems to show an extra bone in the distal row, and the scaphoid bone seems abnormal. There are signs of arthritis on the fingers. On the verso, the drawing shows the head of a man in profile to the viewer's left. In the centre, a pen and ink drawing: a small square drawn in a circle, the centre of which is the centre of a larger circle impressed by a stylus. This larger circle touches the perimeter of the man's head and proceeds to the edge of the sheet
