Ottokar Mascha, Felicien Rops und sein Werk. Katalog seiner Gemälde, Originalzeichnungen, Lithographien, Radierungen, Vernismous, Kaltnadelblätter, Heliogravuren usw. und Reproduktionen, etc., Munich [1910], no. 914, pp. 359-360, describes the etching ("Vor einem Mädchen, das am Operationstisch liegt und von dem bloss Arme, Beine und Dessous zu sehen sind, steht der Arzt und untersucht dieselbe mit dem Mutterspiegel"), does not mention the drawing. Nor is the drawing included in the sale-catalogue of Mascha's collection, Galerie Georges Giroux ... Bruxelles. Vente publique et aux enchères de tableaux, aquarelles, dessins, eauxfortes et lithographies de Felicien Rops formant la celèbre collection du Dr. Ottokar Mascha ... Decembre 1921, where impressions of the etching are lots 845-846 (one inscribed "Le spéculum")
