A., are the only manu facturers of my remedy for blood and skin diseas “Succus Alterans” (McDade), and no one e. makes the preparation under my sanction, or h the right to use my name in connection therewit That all preparations purporting to be the same and called “McDade's Prescription,” “Alterati Compoundetc., are wholly unauthorized by m and parties using my name in such connection doing so in opposition to my formal protest. That each pint bottle of “Succus Alterans (McDade) contains in natural coenbination the unim- paired virtues of sixteen troy ounces of the true medi. cinalplants, Stillingia Sylvatica, Smilax Sarsaparilla, j Phytolacca Decandra, Lappa Minor, and Xanthoxy- lum Carolinianum, collected in their native growth under my personal supervision, and manufactured while still in the green state, the compound being] made in the same proportions as indicated in my I original formula, published by Dr. J. Marion Simt, j in the British Medical Journal, March 10, 1888, and indorsed by Dr. B. Rush Jones, and many other eminent physicians. ^ That 1 have been impelled to this course solely in answer to the obligation placed upon me by the publication of Dr. Sims’ paper, and the conse- quent demand upon me personally for a strictly reliable and uniform preparation, made only from 1 green drugs, collected in proper season, and such I [guarantee the preparation “Succus Alterans (McDade) to be. 4L. Physicians in prescribing should be very careful to write “SUCCUS Alterans (McDade), and see that the druggist to whom prescriptions are sent has the preparation made by EDI EIEEY A CO. There is no excuse for substitution, and physicians may guard against it by examininga sample of the genuine as to color, taste, and odor, after which they will always be able to recognize it. It must be kept in mind that every reported case of the cure of syphilis, in the last four years, by the McDade treatment, has been by the use of SllCCUS Alterans, which is made only by Eli Eilly & Co., under authority of Dr. McDade.
