About this work

Description

Collection of extracts, mostly from works of J. B. van Helmont, on chemical remedies, with notes on alchemy and alchemical receipts: in French. The MS. is in two sections. The first consisting mainly of extracts from the works of J. B. van Helmont, contains chemical and spagyric receipts, processes and remedies. Pp. 3-13 of this section gives an account of William Butler [1535-1618] and his cures. The second part begins from the other end of the volume, and is headed 'Alchimie'.
