About this work

Description

Full colour postcard of an advertisement for Fry's cocoa featuring in series 7 of A. Vivian Mansell & Co.'s postcards ( by permission of Messrs. J.S. Fry & Sons Ltd.). The image shows a colour illustration of 10 happy, young black boys in ragged and patched clothing, the central one holding 2 (oversized) tins of Fry's cocoa. The card probably dates from the early 1920s, but may well be a reproduction of an earlier advertising image. It is signed: H.T.
