About this work

Description

This is a plain chest x-ray of an infant with complications of pneumonia. There is an empyema in the right lung, together with signs of pneumothorax. The right visceral pleura has thickened and the lung is bound down, preventing re-expansion despite the presence of a chest drain. This child was treated with a chest drain (visible in the x-ray).
