Bible. O.T. Ruth 3.7-9. The widowed Ruth had been walking nomadically with her mother-in-law until they arrived in Bethlehem. Ruth began to work in fields owned by Boaz, who became attached to her and married her. Thus she became rewarded for her trials. It is perhaps Naomi who is to be seen in the threshold
