Description

Nepal; the Kathmandu Valley, Bhaktapur, 1986. Location as N0022580 with small farm tractor crossing Durbar Square. In the mid-1980s, Nepal was predominantly a rural-agricultural society with over 90% of the population living in rural areas and depending on farming as a livelihood. In Bhaktapur, 30%-40% of the population were agriculturalists. The city's farmers grow its own food and the city is the most self-contained and self-sufficient of the valley's major settlements.
