Plan is entitled: “Plan of the Estate and Buildings of the Friends’ Retreat near York surveyed by T. Hodgson and Drawn by him for the Many Years Respected Treasurer Samuel Tuke, 1849”. Plan is coloured.  Scale is 10 inches – 300 feet. This is a very detailed coloured plan of the Retreat estate in 1849. It shows the main Retreat building, indicating the names and functions of its different parts; it also shows the airing courts, the porter’s lodge and the various farm buildings. It notes all the different parts of the grounds, naming fields and gardens, showing in great detail the planting of the gardens and marking trees and paths. It shows the burial ground which preceded the present burial ground of 1855. There is also a list giving the acreage of the house with buildings, courts, pleasure grounds, walks and roads, and the acreages of all the individually named fields.
