![[6] each, if the strength of the patient 1s at all able to support it.* If it should be un- equivocally manifest at any one of these bleedings, that the strength of the patient is inadequate to the loss of sixteen ounces, a less quantity may be taken away, and we may resort, at the same time, to the topical application of leeches and blisters. I prefer delaying the use of the blister till the constitutional effects occasioned by the local inflammation are partly removed by the general bleeding, and till the dis- order is thus reduced to a state more nearly approaching to a simple topical affection.
