Martorell y Peña, Francisco (1822-1878)

Collection of lists of shells, notes on Zoology, etc.: in Spanish. Author's holograph MSS. Included are two note-books, one containing descriptions of shells, illustrated with a few pen-drawings, the other a list of shells: both of these seem to have been written when the author was a young man. There is also an A.l.s., dated Barcelona, 11/2/1870, enclosing a classified list of shells, addressed to the Spanish publicist Juan de la Puerta Canseco at Santa Cruz de Tenerife (4 pp., 5 pp. 8vo. 21 × 13 1/2 cm.), together with 4 pp. of a List of land- and sea-shells in proofsheets. The author was a noted archaeologist and naturalist, and founded an Institute of Natural History in Barcelona.
