Prof. Howard Jacobs, Professor of Reproductive Endocrinology at the University College London Medical School, talks about reproductive medicine and fertility treatment. Dr Macnair visits the Old Operating Theatre Museum in London where she is shown the operating table and told about the gruesome way a doctor would flush out bladderstones from inside the patient. Peter Finegold of the Wellcome Trust talks about hands-on brain experiments in the Neuroscience '97 exhibition. Claudia Hammond talks to Prof. David Sackett at the Centre of Evidence-Based Medicine in Oxford. He is trying to help doctors to be more certain about the medicine they prescribe. There is also an item on the new drug, 'pulmozyme', which can bring dramatic improvements in a patient's respiratory function.
