Charles the 2d. by the grace of God king of England Scotland France & Ireland defender of the faith. Began his reign over his subjects the 30 of Ianuary 1648 at the which time the bloody regicides so barbarously murdered his father. I. Chantry sculp.
"God save the King" appears as if a manifestation in the sky. Around the portrait, a decorative frame with strapwork containing mottoes: "Touch not my anoynted"; "Feare God"; "Honour the King". Cartouche left, "The manner how those bloody traytors were drawn from Newgate to the place of execution that murdered Charles the first". Cartouche right, "The end of those traitors that murdered Charles the first of blessed memory"
