Description

The actors, playing a variety of characters, are drinking and in conversation on stage, with lanterns hanging from the layered stage ceiling. A German amateur theatrical (presumably military) group, in a variety of costumes including four in drag. World War II period from the style of the hair, shoes and facial hair (thin pencilled moustaches) sported by the men, a style popularised by the British movie actor Ronald Colman, and German star of the Weimar cinema Adolph Wolbruck (who fled to Britain when the Nazis came to power and enjoyed a second career on the British screen as Anton Walbrook)
