Description

Ricettario: in Italian and Latin. Written by several hands. A few headings and paragraph marks in red. In the upper margin of fol. 41 'Fra[ter] Ambrosius. or[dinis]. mi[norum]. Vigl[ia]nne[nsis]'. In the lower margin of the penultimate leaf of the first section is the name of 'Fratris Bernardini de Varallo ordinis minorum' in an early 16th cent. hand.

This manuscript contains early pagination for the main text and a later foliation for the whole manuscript.

1 volume 10[12] ll. + 131[132] ff. 4to. 18 x 13 cm. On vellum and paper. Original stamped leather binding worn; both ties wanting. First and last leaves of the first section, fol. 125, and last leaf missing. Lower margin of fol. 111 torn away. The first section (10 ll.) and ff. 109-end are on paper.

Purchased 1930.

Biographical note

The MS/ may have been written in a monastic house at Padua, as on fol. 123v, in the course of an entry concerning a 'Mirabile oleum Balsamicum', the writer states: 'Et vidi alium monachum nostrum qui defferendo magnam trabem cum aliis monachis in sancta Justina Paduae manum strinxit inter collonnas et trabem...'.
