About this work

Description

An uplifting sponsored film showing the third annual exhibition of doctors' hobbies held at The British Medical Association, London. This was the third such exhibition and the opening credits are more elaborate than the first exhibition in 1957, also the entries are international. In 1959 there were 22 categories; photography is represented as well as the usual fare of model railways and curved wooden objects. Children's toys feature as well as models of knights, boats and model aircraft. There is a full-size trimaran and a catamaran. A prototype of an individual sauna is demonstrated by a doctor's wife, fully clothed. As in the 1957 exhibition, paintings and collections are evident. Please note, a shrunken head collected by another doctor is depicted at 00:11:54. The end credits are over night shots of the neon lights possibly along Regent's Street, London.
