    Refuse Collection and Disp :sal No changes have been made In the method of disposal of . refuse» which, as in previous years, is by controlled tipping. There are two tips in operation, one at Aylesford, and one at 'Snodland. The collection service has, in spite of labour difficulties, continued to operate efficiently. As in previous years, salvage was again very much to the fore. In spite of propaganda, It was noted that during the last few months of the year, there was a decrease in the amount of material collected. It was not generally realized, what an important part salvage has played in the war effort. The total amount collected-was 237 tons 4 cwts. which produced a gross income of £1,546. Considerable strain has been thrown upon the vehicles^during the past year, owing to the great amount of additional work they have been required to perform outside the normal working. Carting and delivering shelters, removal of debris, furniture removal for bombed-out persons, transport of evacuee’s luggage, together with many other works of transport too numerous to mention. —ooo—
