    Q being thus received into the fyflem; and after an infinity of experiments, he happily difcovered a method of combining pure Vital Airift a liquid form, ca¬ pable of quick and eafy decompofition, by the fimple a&ien of the flomach, communicating with quietude and certain effect, its wonderfully curative powers to every part of the body, in the form of a pleafing and nutritious wine, which, from the immenje quantity of Vital Air it contains, he denominates Vital Wine : and the fmgular advantage which Vital Air, combined with Wine, has over all other preparations, renders it a medicine of the higheft impor¬ tance ; for without opprefling the stomach with the exertion of its digestive powers, the most antifeptic, animating, and alterative principle in nature, rapidly enters into the blood, the minuted: fecretory veffels, the glands, and in fadt every part of our complicated frame. From the iminenfe labour and expence which this preparation, and the neceffary apparatus for preparing it has been attended with, ana the perfuafions of many friends of the high eft rank and. information in fociety, Dr. Barton was prevailed upon to take out a Patent; but not till convinced, by ample experience in considerable private practice as aPhyfician, that VitaJ. Wine was a medicine of the utmoft confequence to mankind, both in the cure and prevention of difeafe, and capable of eradicating complaints which no known medicines could effeft. The leading features of Vital Wine are the prevention of all tendency tq putrefcency in the habit, removing obftru&ions in the glandular and ner¬ vous fyftems, and bringing infenfible perfpiration to its proper quantum and regularity. The perfect innocence of the Vital Wine is alfo fuch, that it cannot, in any cafe whatever, be given to disadvantage : even Infants of the earlieft age may, with the utmoft fafety and peculiar benefit, take it: and perfons who are in a perfect ftate of health, by drinking Vital Wine inflead of other wines,will find their Strength of body, vigor of mind, and hilarity of fpirits, ail improved by it; and as an Alterative in scorbutic and cutaneous complaints. Vital Wine is abundantly fuperior to every other medicine ; is totally fiee from all metallic fubstances or preparations; and by itsfolvent, penetrating, antiputrefcent, and stimulating powers, it not only completely removes the melancholy effects of metallic medicines, fuch as mercury, antimony, &c. but even after the full force of thofe powerful alteratives, but dreadful deoditators of tne human nabit, have been repeatedly and with the utmost Skill tried, difeafes for which fuch medicines are peculiarly adapted- have remained, and have been afterwards radically cured by the ufe *of Vital Wine alone ; and in Venereal cafes, after mercury has failed. Vital W^ne has always been found not only tore-establifh the general health, but totally to eradicate the complaints : and where no mercury or any other medicine has beep given, the Vital Vv me alone, vui*- out confinement or restraint, cd^npletely removes the difeafe,
