    fact'that the patients being of the wealthier classes, there was a natural absence of engravers, seamstresses, &c., but on consulting my hospital record, I find that out of 1,995 patients who consulted me because of some error of refraction or symptom of asthenopia, only 52, i.e., 2.6 per cent, suffered from emmetropic asthenopia.
