the humour of my fhee Chirurgian ; vpheld her in all the {trange cures fhe talked of, and praifed her womanly en- deuour; telling her, he loued her fo much the better, becaufe it was a thing that he profefled, both Phyficke and Chirurgerie : and George had a Dictionarie of Phyficall words, that it might fet a better gloffe vpon that which he feemingly profeft: and told his good Hoftis at his returne he would teach her fomething that fhould doe her na hurt ; for (quoth he) at this inftant I am going about a: great Cure as farre as Warwick-fhire, to a Gentleman of great liuing, and one that hath beene in a Confumption this halfe yeare, and I hope to doe him good. O God (quoth the Hoftis) there is a Gentleman nota quarter of a Mile off, that hath beene a long time ficke of the fame difeafe : Beleeue me, fir, quoth the Hoftis, would it pteafe your worthip e’re your departure in the morning, but to vifit the Gentleman, and but {pend your opinion of him, and I make no queftion but the Gentlewoman will be very thankfull to you. I faith (quoth George) haply at my re- turne I may; but at this time my hafte is fuch that I cannot: and fo good night mine Hoftis. So away went George to bed; and my giddy Hoftis, right of the nature of moft women, thought that night as long as ten, till fhe was deliuered of that burthen of newes which fhe had receiued from my new Doétor : (for fo he termed himfelf. ) Morning being come, at breake of the day mine Hoflis trudges to this Gentlemans houfe, acquainted his wife what an excellent man fhe had at her houfe: protefting he was the beft feene in Phyficke, and had done the mott ftrangeft cures that euer fhe heard of: faying that if fhe would but fend for him, no queftion he would do him good. ‘The gentlewoman glad to heare of any thing that. might procure the health of her Hufband, prefently fent one of her men to defire the Doctor to come and vifit her , Hee ine ess Hufband ;
