To demonstrate the extent and presence of corneal ulcers a drop of fluorescin solution (F. 48) may be put into the eye, and after two or three minutes, on washing away the superfluous reagent by boracic acid, the ulcerated surface will be stained a bright yellow-green. The sen- sibihty of the cornea may be tested by a small piece of thread or twisted cotton-wool.
