Description
Left, a painting of Cupid pointing to a rising rocket, inscribed "Before". On the woman's dressing table is a volume identified by inscriptions as "Rochester's poems", while inside the table drawer are a volume of "Novels" and a volume of "The practice of piety" (Lewis Bayly, The practice of pietie, of which an edition advertised as the 58th was published in 1734). A small dog leaps up, overturing a brazier. On a chair, right, is a corset
