About this work

Description

Slender conifer branches with bright green needles. The tree bears both male and female flowers, the males in the form of small catkins and the females in clusters of green, pink or white scales which develop into a reddish-brown cone made up of overlapping scales. Shows female fruit, also known as "rose" cone. The leaves contain vitamin C and have been used in the treatment of colds. Oil of turpentine may be distilled from the resin.
