SOCIAL CONDITIONS. The chief industries of the town are:—Brick and Tile making, Engineering, Wicker Work, Shirt and Collar making, and the manu- facture of “Cellophane.” GENERAL PROVISION OF HEALTH SERVICES FOR THE AREA. Hospitals provided or subsidized by the Local Authority or County Council. yV. (1) Fever. The Borough Isolation Hospital having been closed, cases of Infectious Diseases are now isolated at the Cross •Isolation Hospital under the County Council. (2) Small Pox. The Somerset County Council has provided a Hospital at Bawdrip, 4 miles from Bridgwater, which is available for the isolation of cases arising in this area. B. U) Tuberculosis. The Somerset County Council provide Sana- torium accommodation for this area. (2) Maternity. The Mary Stanley Home and District Nursing Association at 6 and 8 Castle Street, have 17 Maternity beds, 1 Labour bed, and 1 Isolation bed. The Drummuir Nursing Home at Northfields, provides maternity accommodation.
