Description

Tied to the tail of the car is Poverty, weeping and leading a child by the hand. Hibernia sits weeping to the right on a hill before a group of gentlemen. Mercury descends from above. William Wood was granted a patent in 1722 to improve the coinage in Ireland but the scheme was abandoned
