    In 1948 a Home Help Organiser was appointed. Though she is a trained nurse with a long experience of Cardiganshire, she is faced with formidable difficulties from the outset. Some applicants required help for spring cleaning, others for outdoor farm work. Whilst some home helps are not satisfied with the pay offered, many of the applicants consider the charges too high, and refuse to reveal their financial position when making application for reduction of these charges. But the greatest difficulty of all arises from the fact that when home helps prove to be satisfactory they are jjermanently engaged by the applicants, and leave the service of the County Council. Thus, the number of home helps decreases. Training of home helps by the Council promises no solution : the trained personnel would be all the more attractive to such as need domestic help. Ambulance Service. The vehicles in use at Aberystwyth, Cardigan, Lampeter, and New Quay, are the property of the Cardiganshire County Council ; the one at Adpar belongs to the Adpar, Newcastle Emlyn and District Ambulance Committee, and the vehicle at Llandyssul is the property of the Llandyssul and District Ambulance Committee. —7—
