    Report of the Committee of Management TO THE GOVERNORS OF THE Birmingham, and Midland Eye Hospital FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31st DECEMBER, 1947. The Committee of Management have pleasure in submitting to the Governors and Subscribers the 124th Annual Report of the Hospital, together with the Report of the Medical Board, and the audited Statement of Accounts for the year ended 31st December, 1947. It is interesting to note that there were nearly 10,000 more out-patient attendances during the year, bringing the total up to 139,000, which is an indication of the volume of work being dealt with by the Out-patient Department. Statistics of the numbers of in-patients treated, and the attendances of out-patients and casualties will be found in the Medical Report. SCHEME OF DEVELOPMENT In the Annual Report for 1946 the extensions and developments envisaged in Part I of the Scheme of Development were enumerated, and your Committee are pleased to report that the builders completed their.task during November, 1947, and the Orthoptic Department and the Research Department were able to move into their new quarters. Difficulty in obtaining delivery of equipment has been a serious problem, but the Main Kitchen has now been almost re-equipped and your Committee are pleased to be able to report that the excellent kitchen staff are now working in proper conditions. At the same time, they would like to place on record their appreciation of the cheerful and efficient way in which the kitchen staff carried out their duties during the interruptions and discomforts caused by the re-building. It is hoped that the equally important Part II of the Development Scheme will be completed early in 1948.
