Clothing and Bedding.—Twelve vessels and several lots of bedding and clothing were disinfected, and 372 old beds and 6 lots of filthy clothing were destroyed on account of infection. Foul Cattle Ships, &c.—Twenty-nine cattle ships arrived in the port, and were cleansed under the supervision of the inspector. 183 foul fishing boats were also cleansed and deodorized. Cholera, Yellow Fever, and Plague.— No cases of these diseases occurred in the Port during the year. “In November an arrangement was made “ with the various local authorities on Tyneside to “ reserve the floating hospital of the Port Sanitary “ Authority for the sole reception of any cases of “ plague that might occur either afloat or from the “ shore. At the floating hospital bacteriological “ apparatus was also supplied by the Port Sanitary “ Authority in order to promptly investigate suspected “ cases of plague. All arrivals from plague-infected “ ports continue to be medically examined, and pre- “ cautions are taken to thoroughly fumigate such “ vessels, with the objects of destroying rats and other “ vermin on board.” CHARGES THWAITES, COUNTY PRINTER, IO, MARKET PLACE, DURHAM.
