    HINTS, ETC. The knowledge required for the acquisition of the art of healing diseases is varied and extensive; and the aggregate is, in ordinary language, denomi- nated Medicine. Recourse is often had to this knowledge for the purpose of assisting judiciary inquiry, by calling its professors into the public courts; and this interesting part of their business is denominated Forensic Medicine — itself an im- portant application of all that concerns or constitutes the healing art; and a branch of Medical Juris- prudence, which, besides Forensic or Judiciary medicine, comprehends the important study of Medical Police.
