    HE chapters of this book were written and published in a prominent magazine as a sequel to the series that first brought the white slave traffic to the attention of the world in general. When the appalling extent of this crime, as shown by the campaign of publicity, be- came known, teachers, ministers, club women, and educators generally began to look for a remedy. Investigation indicated that the cure lay in prevention and that the most potent remedy in prevention was edu- cation of the masses to a knowledge of what was transpiring in their own communities, even in their own homes, and the causes for it.
